South-East Bengaluru

HSR doesn't have an IT-park rush hour like Whitefield — its traffic problem is weekend restaurant and pub parking in Sector 1 and Sector 2, where 27th Main and the Agara Lake stretch clog from 8pm Friday through Sunday brunch. Weekday mornings are lighter than most Bengaluru localities because HSR is mostly residential with Sobha, Agara, and Bommanahalli office traffic pulling outward, not through it. The real bottleneck is the HSR-Sarjapur signal at Devarabeesanahalli during the 6-8pm outbound crawl toward Sarjapur Road tech parks.

South Bengaluru

Koramangala's congestion is start-up and cafe density, not office-park shift traffic: 5th Block and 80 Feet Road slow to a crawl between 1-3pm (lunch crowd from the WeWork and co-working clusters) and again 7-10pm on weekends. The Sony World Signal-Sarjapur Road junction is the single worst chokepoint, adding 15+ minutes at evening peak. Unlike HSR, Koramangala's weekday traffic is fairly constant through the day rather than spiking sharply at 9am and 6pm, because so much of the working population here works from co-working spaces with flexible hours.

East Bengaluru

Whitefield's traffic is IT shift-change traffic, full stop: the ORR stretch between the Kadugodi and Hoodi junctions locks up between 8:30-10am and again 5:30-8pm as ITPL, EPIP Zone, and the Sigma Soft Tech Park campuses empty out on staggered 30-minute cycles. Weekends are the opposite of HSR or Koramangala — Whitefield goes quiet by Saturday afternoon since most of the working population commutes in from elsewhere. The Graphite India junction and the Kundalahalli railway crossing are the two spots that turn a 10-minute drive into 30.

Central-East Bengaluru

Indiranagar's bottleneck isn't one signal — it's the whole 100 Feet Road corridor from Old Madras Road to the Domlur flyover, where BBMP has marked both sides as no-parking zones, which pushes the kerbside crowd into the moving lanes anyway. CMH Road carries the elevated Purple Line with Indiranagar metro station at its centre, useful for commuters but it narrows the road underneath during the 8:30-10am and 6-8pm peaks. A ₹1,300-crore elevated corridor connecting SV Road Metro to Silk Board via 80 Feet Road, CMH Road, and 100 Feet Road has been cleared to ease this, though construction hadn't started as of our last check.

South Bengaluru — Hosur Road

Electronic City's Hosur Road corridor used to be defined entirely by the Silk Board junction crawl and the Electronic City flyover queue. The Yellow Line metro, live since August 2025, now runs fully elevated above Hosur Road with stations at Electronic City and Huskur Road, pulling a real share of the daily IT commute off the surface road. Central Silk Board metro station is operational too, though the Blue Line interchange there is still under construction — so surface traffic at Silk Board junction itself remains the worst chokepoint on the way in from HSR Layout or Koramangala. Inside Electronic City Phase 1 and Phase 2, the internal roads — Neeladri Road, Hosa Road — are far calmer than the Hosur Road approach.

East Bengaluru — Outer Ring Road

Marathahalli's defining traffic fact right now is the bridge itself: vehicle movement over Marathahalli Bridge is restricted for metro construction, with diversions running through the surrounding ORR approach roads while the Marathahalli metro station — originally due June 2026 — is now expected in December 2026. BBMP's signal-free trials at the bridge junction help outside diversion hours, but during closure windows the ORR between Kundalahalli and the Marathahalli junction backs up in both directions. Inside the older Marathahalli main market and AECS Layout side streets, away from the ORR frontage, traffic is lighter and mostly local.
